Inside the archaeological site of Metaponto, the most significant and eye-catching find to visit is undoubtedly the Theater of Hera (also called "of the Palatine Tables" since it was perhaps part of an ancient and more imposing palace, or "School of Pythagoras" in memory of the great philosopher and mathematician). This temple is composed of 15 columns with 20 grooves and capitals of the Doric order. Of the 15 columns, ten are on the northern side and five on the southern side. It dates back to the 6th century BC.
