The church was built in the 13th century with a single nave. An important wooden sculpture from the 15th century can be seen in the church.

The church of Monteverdi MarittimoMonteverdi does not have a well-defined geometry, the aspects of a fortress with walls and doors are no longer recognisable, but you can see how the town has grown around Via Giosuè Carducci, the main street that crosses the entire historic center and towards which all secondary streets. The wrinkles, they call them here: narrow streets that wind, channeling themselves between the buildings as they best find an outlet. The Church of Sant'Andrea stands out among the ancient houses of the center with an exposed stone façade. Built shortly before the 13th century with a single nave structure, it proves to be important as it preserves a fundamental finding from the history of the village. The object in question is the baptismal font found near the small temple dedicated to the Goddess Bellona and where the monastery of San Pietro in Palazzuolo later arose, a monastery that gave life to the communities present on these hills of the Val di Cecina: Canneto and Monteverdi.
