Road cycling

Old railway embankment with bridges. The Ostend-Ypres-Armentières railway line was built in 1864-1873 (parliamentary approval in April 1864). In 1963 the railway line was closed to passenger traffic, in 1967 to freight traffic. In 1985, the old railway line in Torhout territory was transformed into the recreational "Green 62", a walking and cycling route that was extended to Ostend by the provincial government from 1986 onwards.
