In Bavaria's northernmost town of Fladungen, the Franconian Open-Air Museum brings the past rural building, working and living methods from all over Lower Franconia and the neighboring Hessian and Thuringian Rhön to life. On a twelve-hectare site, around 30 rebuilt agricultural properties and community buildings in their regional and social diversity provide a comprehensive insight into living and working from the 17th century to the 1970s. The buildings are embedded in a historical cultural landscape of various themed gardens, orchards, fields and pastures on which old domestic animal breeds such as cattle, pigs, sheep and goats are kept.
