Work on the construction of the calvary probably began in 1887.

HE IS A RELIGIOUS PASSARION BROTHER whose name is Joseph Blanchin, who is at the origin.

Born in Montceau, precisely in Chatonnay, (the hamlet located at the bottom of this hill), he worked in the Christian schools of Caluire and participated in the construction of the Calvary. We found the hammer he used and the letters in which he explained to his brother-in-law (who lived in Montceau and whose descendants are the Doubli/Comberousse families) how to seal the gates, fix the crosses or collect at the Bourgoin station. the trunk sealed to the grilles.

THE CALVARY itself is enclosed in a rectangular enclosure with wrought iron gates, opened by a gate; On the monument stand the 3 crosses of Golgotha: here we have the central cross - the highest - which bears Christ, the Virgin Mary on the left and Saint John on the right.

These statues are made of cast iron and are the work of Louis Gasne (the name is written at the foot of the statues), master foundryman of the Tussey foundries which produced numerous artistic objects (the 2 monumental fountains of the Place de la Concorde in Paris are a famous example).

THE CROSSES are sealed on cubic bases with a horizontal stone in front for kneeling; at the crossing, a square riveted plaque bears the station number in relief.

THE CALVARY WAS INAUGURATED ON MAY 29, 1889 by Monseigneur Fava, bishop of Grenoble.

THIS CALVARY WAS GIVEN to the commune by the Doubli /Comberouse families, successors of Brother Passarion, in 2006.
