Moors, wet meadows, unique flora and fauna – the Murnau Moor is a true natural gem. Many endangered animal and plant species find refuge in Central Europe's largest contiguous and still-preserved moor. This natural area is best discovered by hiking through the heart of the Murnau Moor. Hardly any tour in the Blue Land offers more insights into the nature and history of the moor than the popular Moor Circular Trail.

The approximately 12-kilometer hike starts at the hiking car park and the Biological Station, then leads to the Ramsach Church, also known as the "Ähndl," and from there, the circular trail through the moorland begins. A special highlight of the circular trail is the boardwalk. It is reached after about one kilometer at the junction of the Moor Circular Trail in Murnau/Westenried. On wooden planks, you traverse the natural moor landscape and enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. The boardwalk was designed as a so-called moorland nature trail and therefore offers even closer insights into the flora and fauna. For an even more intensive insight into the flora and fauna as well as the history of the Murnauer Moos, we recommend the guided moorland hikes.
