    This is a striking lighthouse, built in 1856 to replace several other light structures in the same place. All were meant to protect ships entering Narragansett Bay or Block Island Sound, which come together around the point. Even with the aid of a lighthouse, there have been many shipwrecks here. Point Judith Lighthouse itself is now in the National Register of Historic Places. After exploring it, you might enjoy walking through the nearby park or down to the beach.
