This Hermitage in the center of Viabrea dates back to the year 941 of Romanesque origin with the name of Sant Esteve, currently the hermitage of Sant Llop. Due to the proximity...it has always been most visited by the inhabitants of Breda,
Thanks to the last restoration a few years ago, they have saved it, along with the Cemetery, from the continuous and progressive deterioration 🌳👍

Originally this church was called Sant
Esteve de Sabruguera, but at the beginning of the 16th century an altar dedicated to Saint Llop was added and, in a few years, he became the owner. The church could date from the 10th or 11th centuries and, in 1246, we find it documented in a bull of Pope Innocent IV in favor of the Breda monastery. This rural parish, which in medieval times was already part of the viscounty of Cabrera (within the territory of the castle of Montsoriu and the batllia of n'Orri), between the 16th and 18th centuries it became suffrage of the parish of Riells. The building and its furniture suffered damage during the civil war. from 1936-1939 and its last restoration was carried out in 1982.
