The building of today's admissions office and district adult education center was originally built as a bank building in 1905 and 1906 by what was then the Altenkirchen district savings bank.
After a nationwide architectural competition, the decision was made in favor of the design by two Berlin architects.
In 1974, today's Sparkasse Westerwald moved to the newly built savings bank building on Schlossplatz, so that the Altenkirchen district administration took over the building.
Today the motor vehicle registration office and the Altenkirchen district adult education center are located here.
