The town of Novales is in the province of Huesca, in the community of Aragón, region of Hoya de Huesca.

Located on an elevation of land next to the Guatizalema River, Novales appears for the first time in records at the end of the 11th century.

In the highest part of the town are the remains of a 15th century castle. Built of ashlar, it had a walled enclosure, a tower and a portal with a semicircular arch. Older is the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Romanesque style (12th century), expanded in the 16th century.
