Located not far from the southern tip of Beira Lake, the Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important Buddhist temple complexes in Colombo and the whole of Sri Lanka. It was built at the end of the 19th century and combines Buddhist movements from Sri Lanka, Thailand, India and China.

Gangaramaya Temple is one of Colombo's most important and unique Buddhist temples. The temple combines traditional Sri Lankan architecture with Thai, Indian, and Chinese influences, creating a rich and sometimes almost museum-like atmosphere.

The complex comprises several buildings housing Buddha statues, ancient manuscripts, relics, and artifacts, as well as striking modern elements such as clocks, gifts from devotees, and even vintage cars. Nearby is Seema Malaka, a tranquil temple area that appears to float on the waters of Beira Lake and is perfect for a moment of silence.
