The Friedrichssegen freight rack railway ran on November 8th, 1880 with a 1000 mm gauge on a track length of 2.67 meters from the Friedrichssegen mine to the Ahler ore magazine on the Lahn (today Friedrichssegen DB station) and climbed 120 meters in altitude.
Previously, the AAG of the Friedrichssegen lead and silver mine had to bring 60 tons of ore down to the valley with 20 horses in 1879, which became unprofitable.
The route of the Friedrichssegen freight cogwheel railway led from the pit on the right side with a gradient of 1:20 over a bridge below the processing plants in front of the Kölsch Loch settlement and ran on the left side in the middle of the mountain with a gradient of 1:10 to the ore magazine .
There were two locomotives “Glück auf” and “Friedrichssegen”, which transported the ore with 30 trucks to Friedrichssegen to the transshipment point on the Lahn.
In 1912 the mine was taken over by Stolberger Zink AG when Mexican silver entered the market.
In 1913 the unproductive Friedrichssegen mine was closed and the hardship among the residents became great.
In 1929 the school and the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart were completed.
In 1951 and 1952 the flotation plant was built below the Olsborn
Built in stages into the slope.
In 1957 the mining operation was completely stopped because the processing method was unlucrative and prices on the world market were falling.
