Balouta is a small town located in the municipality of Valle de Ancares (formerly Candín), in the heart of the Ancares Mountains, in the region of Castile and León.
It is the town where the largest number of the characteristic pallozas (houses) of the Ancares region of León are preserved. These traditional circular stone buildings with thatched wooden roofs are preserved. You can also find a granary (hórreo) and a church dedicated to the apostle Saint James.
