The 4.5 m tall Pyrsos the Peaceful bronze statue, based on a winged godess Nike, stands at the intersection of Hwy 74 and the road to the Ancient Olympia archaeological site and museums. A large metal cauldron copy of the ancient vessel for the Olympic flame stands a few stairs down in the square in front of the town park.
Dedicated in 1992 with the hope that through sport peace and brotherhood may be achieved between all people, the Pyrsos' marble foundation plaque credits artists Georgios Glyptis and George Schbatsampaia with the assistance of the National Olympic Committee.
