Historic Route US 40 stretches from New Jersey to California and, just like Route 66, was a primary route across the country. This route takes travelers at a slower pace and goes past what is left of old gas stations, museums, motels, historical landmarks and small towns off the beaten path. The route construction was finished in 1926 and today Route 40 can still be driven for all 2,2854 miles.
