The Vuurtoren Wester Schouwen, also known as the Westerlichttoren, is an impressive lighthouse near Nieuw-Haamstede on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland. The 50-meter-high tower was built between 1837 and 1840 according to the plans of Leendert Valk and is one of the tallest lighthouses in the Netherlands. Its light reaches a height of 58 meters above sea level and is visible for up to 30 nautical miles (about 56 kilometers), with a distinctive light pattern of two short and one long flash every 15 seconds.
