An old sign bears the indication "COVALCA quarry". After a few meters the quarry appears, approximately 150 meters wide, approximately 250 meters long, with leucitite ("flint") walls 15/20 meters high. The flow was formed by a local event, i.e. the leakage of lava material coming from a lateral fissure of the Lazio volcano, the same event at the origin of the very nearby "Nenni" quarry flow, still functioning for bitumen production.
