The Broch of Gurness is one of the best examples of a prehistoric Iron Age settlement. You can explore the ruins of the village and find out more at the visitor centre.
Managed by Historic Environment Scotland it's open daily from 9:30 - 17:30 (last entry 17:00). Adults are currently £7 (Oct 2022 prices).

    Hiking

The Broch of Gurness is a outstanding Neolithic broch in a spectacular location on the shores of Eynhallow Sound. Unlike Skara Brae, at Gurness you can wander through the remains of the village at will. In my opinion Broch of Gurness is head and shoulders above rather better known Skara Brae.
