The Herendaalhof is one of the largest and oldest farms in the Hageland. This abbey farm dates from the 13th century and was founded by the lords of Park Abbey in Heverlee. The farm owes its name to these 'gentlemen'. After several storms, fires and destruction over the years, the farm was gradually rebuilt. The landscape at the farm is called 'hell'. The word 'hell' can be seen as a dark, unknown depth, or come from the word slope, because the farm is located on top of a steep, wooded slope on the edge of the plateau.
