You are here in the Grote Getevallei. But what is that? This information board tells you more about it. The Natuurpunt sign is at the intersection of the long cycle path (Ijzerenweg line 22, at Drieslinter station, railway line 23 split from railway line 22) with the Molenstraat (on the way to or from the Geensmolen and the Grote Gete).

This way you not only know that you are in the Grote Getevallei Nature Reserve (and are entering real nature), but especially what can be seen there and what is about to happen. Of course, you will partly discover this yourself, but the information on the board will tell you more. And the presence of a great crested newt path and terrain with ponds that have been optimized for the great crested newt (with all the toys and educational signs for young people) also leaves little to the imagination. A little further along this cycle path in the direction of Neerlinter you will also find one of the entrances to the great crested newt path and especially the educational part with the covered large hut, ponds and much more.

Not enough yet? According to Natuurpunt, the Grote Getevallei will soon be "one of the largest open valleys in Flanders". Quote: "The Grote Getevallei is located in the province of Flemish Brabant between Linter and Zoutleeuw. You can walk and cycle between grasslands, hedges, ponds and forests with a varied fauna and flora. Here you can still see the rare great crested newt.
