As you skirt the southern ridge of Mount Parnassus you break out of treeline and get fantastic views south toward Grays Peak and the peaks below it. This part of the trail becomes quite steep as you climb up, down, and back up the ridge, but for the most part the Bard Creek Trail has a relatively slight grade.
