From the north and southern ends of Upper Chinns Reservoir (Sherwin Lake), you can access a ~1.5 mile singletrack trail which takes you up above the Chinns lakes to Slater Lake. The trail is more technical and may be difficult to follow in places, but you can get an idea of the route via google maps.

You can also run up to Fall River Reservoir from the Rainbow Road Trailhead if you are looking to add mileage.
