Best Hikes to Tiklas Park and 'The Ice Road' Sculpture

Tips

  • Tiklas Park is a pleasant forest park. The pond in the park is a remnant of a sea bay. There is a fountain in the pond and the water is home to many different birds. There are several waterside seating areas where you can sit and watch the birds. Various types of shrubs grow in the park, such as roses and rhododendrons. Lawns complete the whole thing.
The environmental artwork "The Ice Road" by sculptor Pekka Jylhä commemorates the Finnish Winter War (1939-1940): The Ice Road crossed the Kvarken between Umeå and Vaasa, and important supplies were transported by truck from Sweden to Finland
