In 1913 the festival hall was completed according to plans by the city architect Eugen Frielingsdorf. The manufacturer Josef Kaiser, whose company Kaiser's Kaffeehandlung was based in Viersen, made a significant contribution to the realization with a donation of 130,000 marks on the occasion of his appointment to the Commerce Council. Until 1925 the building was also used as a gymnasium. A redesign that took place in 1939/1940 according to plans by Carl Staudt was also intended to provide opportunities for NSDAP political events. The building was only slightly damaged during the war and was used again soon after the end of the war. It has been renovated and rebuilt several times throughout its history. In 1997, the festival hall was extensively renovated and renovated (internal and external appearance, new seating and technology), made possible by the support of the festival hall support association.[1]It celebrated its centenary on December 7, 2013.Today the festival hall is a well-known performance building for theater and concerts as well as the venue for the three-cushion world championship for national teams and the venue for an annual international jazz festival
