The forge.
A blacksmith was mentioned in Blankenfelde as early as 1624. The exact location is not known. In 1703, King Friedrich I concluded an inheritance purchase agreement with the blacksmith Tobias Fritsche from Niederschönhausen. It said that the residents of the villages of Niederschönhausen, Pankow and Blankenfelde were only allowed to have their blacksmith work carried out in Niederschönhausen.
In 1718 the blacksmith was allowed to set up a running forge in Blankenfelde. He built the small house made of granite stones at Hauptstrasse 45. From then on, the blacksmith worked two days a week in Blankenfelde.
The forge is shown at its current location on the plan from 1731. It survived the major fire in Blankenfelde in 1776. The last owner of the forge was master blacksmith Paul Pattina and his heirs.
The last blacksmith in Blankenfelde until 1971 was Adolf Böhnisch from Arkenberge.
The forge was purchased in 2007 and has been used as a warehouse ever since.Source/support from local chronicler Maritta Schödel
