You have to climb 84 steps to the platform of the observation tower. When you are finally up there is a great view over the Elbe to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. There is a bench on the platform so that you can stay up there a little longer. At the foot of the tower there is a shelter, in front of which there are several tables and benches. The tower can be reached via Elbuferstraße from Hitzacker to Neu Darchau. From the large parking lot it is only a few meters to the tower.
I parked the car in Tiesmesland and walked to the tower. However, you have to be quite good on foot, as it is a steep uphill and downhill ride.
