In 1207, Sülfeld was first mentioned in documents as Sullevelde.
The patronage of the church was exercised by the lord of the manor of Borstel, from 1588 together with his brother, owner of the now independent Jersbek estate.In 1667, the church tower was given its current stepped gable shape.
In 1773, the current parsonage was built.
In 1968, the parish was significantly reduced in size.As part of renovation work, the galleries in the church were removed.
In 1991, as part of building renovation work, the side extensions to the church tower were removed.
In 2004, the parsonage, the neighboring coach house and the entire surrounding area were completely renovated.
In 2007, Sülfeld celebrated its 800th birthday.Sülfeld has always been a church village. The church still stands in the center of the village and attracts visitors to events.
