The Talpa Traverse is a popular "unofficial" trail that traverses north-south along the edge of Carson National Forest and the town of Taos. The Ojitos Trail is popular trail with mountain bikers and hikers seeking a less rocky alternative to the South Boundary Trail because it avoids the rocky El Nogal section. If you decide to turn onto the Ojitos Trail, please be aware of mountain bikers on the somewhat narrow trail through the forest.
