This is the southern end of the West Rim Trail, and if you start here, you'll reach the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. The direction you take doesn't matter too much since there aren't significant elevation changes on the trail. You'll have stunning views of the gorge throughout, and if you're lucky, you might also see lots of wildlife, such as bighorn sheep. Even though the terrain isn't complicated, rugged tires are recommended.

The West Rim Trailhead is where most people begin and/or end their hike on the southern part of the West Rim Trail, which does extend slightly south past here to Petaca Point. There are no facilities at this trailhead so please plan ahead!
