The climb from Bukowska is much more difficult than from Karlikowo. This does not mean, however, that it is easier from the Karlikowo side, because to get to Karlikowo from Szczawne or Wysoczany you have to overcome several solid hills, and the patched asphalt limits acceleration on the descents. I do not recommend this route at night.
However, the road from Sanok to Bukowska via Markowce and Wolica does not have such steep hills and the surface is better.
