The Frigiano tower was built in the second half of the 16th century on the initiative of the Aragonese, with the aim of protecting the port of Frigiano, which served the village of Castel Aragonese (subsequently renamed Castelsardo), from the incursions of pirates coming from the coasts of North Africa .
