There are ruins here and an informational plaque discussing the Gust Welin Homestead, a Swedish settlement established in 1902.

The title to this trip is misleading. You will not get to the Swedish Settlement if you follow the directions given. The Swedish Settlement is east of the parking lot and not on the route indicated. It is in fact, east of Juniper Rock and the Marengo River.
