The Hook is a recreation area for those who want to stay on shore and watch kitesurfing or those wanting to go out into the Colombia River and ride. The water stays smooth inside the bay, which is good for practicing beginners. More experienced riders venture outside the bay, where they are greeted with a current and a wind shadow from Wells Island.
