Tosmarberg Summit Cross

The Tosmarberg or Tosmar (highest elevation: Steinberg 329.8m NN) is located about seven kilometers south of Hildesheim elevation of the Hildesheimer forest. The mountain is located in the village of Söhre Diekholzen. The name derives from the north at the foot of the mountain located former settlement Tossum ("Tossumer Berg"), which was desolate at the end of the Middle Ages after the expansion of the Marienburg. In 1900, a lookout tower was built on the Tosmarberg by the Hildesheim Harz Association, which collapsed in a hurricane in 1940 and whose foundations are still recognizable in the area today. Today, after more than 70 years, there is again a building. The summit cross was built in 2010 and inaugurated with a forest service. Once at the top you will find not only the cross, but in good weather a great view. On the cross there is a guest book, where many hikers have registered ... A visit is definitely worth ..
