Black Eagle Memorial Island is more than just a city park; it's a piece of history. This site originally housed Great Falls' very first hydroelectric dam power plant when electricity was still a novelty.

Black Eagle Falls which can be seen from the island is the first in a series of five Missouri River waterfalls that inspired the city's name. The falls are formed by the river's path through layers of sandstone, revealing the hard bedrock beneath.
