Starting from Arnad, I recommend taking the road inside the town with fortified houses and pretty, ancient huts, then continue on the asphalt road until you reach the sign on the right for Machaby and its Fort.
From here the road is made of large stones which over time are badly positioned as well as being in the shade and damp so going up there is a continuous vibration of the handlebars. Maybe the surface is better in the summer. But you can go up on foot as there is little difference in altitude and distance.
