Zollhafen Bridge (2017) - Mainz 🚴‍

The Zollhafen Bridge is a bascule bridge (opened in 2017) that connects the south and north piers with the new Zollhafen urban area for the first time since the destruction of the previous bridge during World War II. The bridge's bascule mechanism is necessary to allow sailboats and motorboats to pass under the bridge into the harbor basin even at higher water levels. Depending on the water level, differences in height of up to six meters can occur. Boaters must first register, after which the two inner segments of the bridge are raised.

Cyclists and pedestrians can use the bascule bridge on the Zollhafen Rhine promenade directly to reach the city center and the Kaiserbrücke, the railway bridge between Mainz and Wiesbaden. 🚴‍♂️
