The two rugged ridges of Gedererwand and Kampenwand not only resemble each other externally, but also form a geological unit. Both are constructed of hard Wetterstein limestone. In between lies the hollow of the Gedereralm, which forms a beautiful contrast to the rock walls with its flowering pastures. From the hollow there is a barely used slip east into the Rottauer Tal. This makes it possible to completely circle the Gedererwand next to the ascent. If one chooses on the way the path from the north past the tower Twelve, the Gedererwand can be so practically from all perspectives experience.
Please note that the route finding on the described route can cause some headaches. In addition, a good degree of surefootedness is necessary. When wet, avoid the small paths better and avoid the wide main hiking trails.
