    Gros Bessillon is the highest peak in Center Var, isolated from other peaks around twenty kilometers around. The Bessillon forest is very vast and covers the entire massif. The surrounding villages are Barjols and Pontevès to the northwest, Cotignac to the east and Correns to the south. To the east of the massif is the Saint-Joseph du Bessillon monastery, site of an apparition of Saint Joseph
