The trail is mostly downhill to get down to the water, so it is mostly uphill the entire way back. The trail is super rocky and sandy in sections and can be difficult to follow if you don't have a map handy. That being said, if you are in good shape and are up for a challenge, this is an awesome wilderness trail that can be super rewarding.
