One of the best examples of modernism in Palencia. Building projected by architect Jerónimo Arroyo in 1909 under the name Asylum of San Joaquin and Santa Eduviges. Built of red brick, it stands out on the façade with an enormous ceramic frieze that stages the donation of the founder, Doña Eduviges Sanz de Sedano y Monedero, Viscountess of Villandrando. The usefulness of the building was to give collection and training of institutrices to orphan girls.
