Lake Pistono is one of the 5 lakes near Ivrea formed by the retreat of a Pleistocene glacier. The castle of Montalto Dora overlooks the lake and traces of a Neolithic pile-dwelling village have been discovered on its banks. It is possible to visit the Archaeological Park of Lake Pistono, which houses the finds and reconstructions of prehistoric huts.
