The building where the Town Hall is currently located was conceived as the Civil Guard Barracks, and both it and the square sit on land that once belonged to the San Jacinto convent. Originally the Town Halls were located in the old public square (current Plaza de Don Jesús Requejo) but due to the epidemics that occurred in the 18th century, the population began to settle further on the other side of the Arroyuelo, leaving this area converted into a suburb. deserted. On the other hand, the main public buildings required important works to continue maintaining their functionality, which is why after the confiscation of 1860 and the expulsion of the religious, the City Council moved to the convent of San Jacinto, converting its garden into a public square. In the middle of the 20th century, the convent suffered a series of fires that ended up destroying it, forcing a new addition to the Town Halls, in this case to the old Civil Guard offices, its current location.
In the square we can see the Jurisdictional Roll or Picota: It has its origin in the Royal Execution of Villazgo of 1557, rising on May 12 of the same year at the entrance of the road that comes from Consuegra, to warn that the municipality had its own jurisdiction and could judge in the first instance any case. It consists of a tall Corinthian stone column with a fluted shaft and a capital with a flat molding with four carved shields. Above the capital stands a temple with balustraded columns. The shaft retains the iron "dogs" two-thirds of its height. It ended with a stone finish, which today is at the height of the base, from which a metal cross of Saint John emerged. In 1970 it was restored and moved to its current location in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
