The fortress began to be built in the middle of the 10th century during the splendor era of the Caliphate of Córdoba, concluding its construction in the middle of the 13th century. Perfectly restored, it allows you to tour its walls and the parade ground as well as access its interior, with furniture and weapons, in which the atmosphere of the time is recreated.

A 10th-century castle with fantastic views from the tower, offering independent exploration and guided tours. A work of military architecture, the Knights of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem built it after Alfonso VIII ceded the old fortifications and districts of Consuegra to the Order.

The castle underwent transformations, renovations, and restorations, adapting its uses to the needs and sociopolitical changes of the time. It enjoyed its splendor during the 13th and 15th centuries, and although it remained inhabited, it suffered a gradual but inexorable process of abandonment until its final decline with the confiscation of church property by Mendizábal in the 19th century. Finally, thanks to the will and perseverance of the inhabitants of Consuegra, the castle was gradually restored to return it to its former splendor. The interior can be visited from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The castle of Consuegra is located on Cerro Calderico, together with the Molinos de Consuegra.

The interior of the castle can be visited and accessed up to the highest turret. The panoramic views from this point to the Manchega plain are kilometric.
