Cemetery Ridge Barn

Embark on the Cemetery Ridge, Hemlock, and Creekside Meadows Loop for a moderate hike through varied landscapes. This 6.3-mile (10.1 km) route involves a climb of 754 feet (230 metres) and typically takes around 2 hours and 53 minutes to complete. You will traverse deep forests dense with Canadian hemlocks and hardwoods, encountering huge rock formations and shady groves along the Hemlock Trail. The path also leads you along the serene banks of Clear Creek, offering peaceful views. Be ready for a particularly steep initial climb on the Cemetery Ridge Trail, setting the tone for this engaging journey.

You can easily access the trailhead by parking at the Creekside Meadows Picnic Area. Be aware that the trail can get muddy, especially during certain seasons, so wear appropriate footwear. Please note that dogs are not allowed on this particular loop, so plan accordingly if you usually hike with a pet. The initial section on Cemetery Ridge Trail is quite steep, so prepare for a challenging start to your hike.

Beyond the natural beauty, the trail offers a glimpse into the past with the historic Cemetery Ridge Barn. Built in 1837, you will encounter this landmark about a mile into your hike. The alternating scenery of forest and prairies, particularly vibrant with goldenrod and sumac in the fall, adds to the unique charm of this route.
