Lecco is also home to the Monumento ai Caduti, a monument honoring the victims of two world wars. The monument, designed by Giampiero Frilli in 1938, stands right in the historic center and faithfully commemorates their sacrifice. The names, ranks and ages of those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Italy are carved into the limestone walls surrounding the sacrificial fire. This monument is a moving and solemn tribute to the Italian soldiers that should be visited by anyone interested in the history and culture of Italy.
