In the middle of nowhere in Idaho, you can visit a nuclear reactor, the Experimental Breeder Reactor or short EBR-I. The EBR-I Atomic Museum tells you the story of this National Historic Landmark that generated nuclear energy starting in 1951. It was the first reactor to produce a usable amount of electricity from nuclear power and operated until 1963. During a self-guided or guided tour you can see four nuclear reactors, a control room, radiation detection equipment and much more.

The Atomic Museum is open during summer. There is no reservation needed and access is for free.
