    Hiking

De Lank Quarries is rich in Cornish Granite and the dedicated footpath gets you right up close to the action. The silver grey rock was used to build Waterloo Bridge in London in the early 19th century, the London South Bank & New Scotland Yard a few decades later and more recently for The Queen Mother's Memorial in 2009.

Pendrift Downs, De Lank Quarries & Jubilee Rock loop from Blisland

Set out on a moderate hike across Pendrift Downs, a 4.5-mile (7.2 km) loop that takes about 2 hours and 2 minutes to complete. You will gain 535 feet (163 metres) in elevation as you explore open moorland with expansive views of mid-Cornwall. The route guides you through the De Lank river valley, where moss-covered boulders and a small waterfall create a unique atmosphere. You will also pass the impressive working De Lank Quarries, showcasing their dramatic scale.

Be prepared for varied terrain on this route; paths around De Lank Quarry can be uneven. Sections of the De Lank river valley and moorland may be marshy or boggy, even during summer months. We highly recommend wearing waterproof footwear to stay comfortable. If you are hiking with a dog, be aware that some stiles are wired over, meaning you might need to lift your pet.

This trail offers a rich blend of scenery and history within Bodmin Moor. You can enjoy panoramic views stretching towards the Camel Estuary and distant peaks like Roughtor and Brown Willy. A notable feature is Jubilee Rock, a large granite boulder with intricate historical carvings, providing excellent viewpoints along the way. The route provides a glimpse into the region's natural and industrial past.
