The ruins of the Darró archaeological complex are located in the extreme south of the municipality of Vilanova i la Geltrú, in the Catalan region of Garraf. The oldest location would be located on the nearby hill of Sant Gervasi (5th century BC), to later be moved to the place where the ruins are displayed today, between the hill and the beach.

With the arrival of the Romans to the area, they founded a Roman villa here after the original town was abandoned for unknown reasons in the middle of the 1st century BC.

After the 4th century the buildings were abandoned and converted into necropolis, the most recent tombs being from the Visigothic period (6th century). Finally, the land was dedicated to cultivation, until in 1955 the first excavations were carried out and a long process began that would end with the consolidation and adaptation of the historical remains and the opening of the site to the public.
