The Huliheʻe Palace, situated on the land known as Kalāke‘e, was originally constructed from lava rock during the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. This historic palace was initially the residence of High Chief John Adams Kuakini, who was the brother of Ka‘ahumanu, Kamehameha the Great's favorite wife. Throughout its history, the palace served as the home for numerous members of Hawaiian royalty, making it the most frequented residence by the Hawaiian monarchy in the islands.
